Would you like a picture book to share, a story in Valencian or an English book your child wants to read? Searching for children's bookshops in Valencia leads to quite different kinds of shops. Start with what you want to find, then tell the bookseller how your child enjoys reading.
This guide covers a children's specialist, an illustration bookshop, two general bookshops with children's books and an English-language option. Sources were consulted on 14 October 2026. Each entry links to information for planning your visit; these shops have different specialities and kinds of catalogue.
Which option suits your search?
- Children's literature and several languages: Leolo, on Calle del Túria.
- Picture books and illustration: Estudio 64, in Benimaclet.
- A neighbourhood shop for advice: El Cresol, in Patraix.
- A children's section within a general bookshop: Soriano, on Calle de Xàtiva.
- English reading and learning materials: English Wooks, with an online catalogue; enquire directly about visiting in person.
These are alternatives to choose from, not a route to complete in one morning. Benimaclet, Patraix and the centre involve different journeys.
Leolo: an international children's bookshop
Address: Calle del Túria, 50.
Leolo describes itself as an international children's and young adult bookshop and educational toy shop. It offers picture books and other books in Spanish, Catalan, English, French and German. You can browse by age, although your child's interests and reading preferences remain useful clues.
Try asking for: a picture book to share and another option your child would enjoy at their own pace, specifying your preferred language.
See Leolo's introduction and official contact page. Confirm the edition and stock before travelling for a particular book.
Estudio 64: books that invite you to look
Address: Calle de Benicolet, 2, beside the square in Benimaclet.
Estudio 64 is a bookshop and gallery specialising in illustration. Its focus offers another way into books: noticing lines, colours and how a picture tells a story. That differs from an exclusively children's bookshop; ask for help finding something suitable for your child.
A browsing idea: look for a book where the pictures have plenty to say, and ask which spread the bookseller recommends looking at first.
Estudio 64's website introduces the shop. Its contact page lists the address and hours. Check the intended audience and conditions of any workshop.
El Cresol: a neighbourhood stop in Patraix
Address: Calle del Músic Barbieri, 7, ground floor, left.
El Cresol is a neighbourhood bookshop with a general catalogue. Its website recommends stories and other books for children, and its bookseller describes the role of reading and storytelling in his work. It is an option for seeking a story to share while also choosing something for an adult.
Try asking: “We'd like something funny that we can read in turns. What would you look at?”
Check El Cresol's website and contact page. For storytelling or a workshop, consult the current programme before leaving.
Soriano: a children's section in the centre
Address: Calle de Xàtiva, 15.
Soriano is a general bookshop with a children's and young adult section among other subjects. The independent bookshops association describes this range, and its Todos Tus Libros listing provides catalogue and contact information.
It is an option for a family looking for several age groups in one stop. Ask for help within the children's section; a large catalogue does not replace explaining what your child wants to find.
Confirm hours and stock directly if you are travelling for a particular edition.
English Wooks: another route into English reading
English Wooks offers English fiction, non-fiction and learning materials, with children's categories in its online catalogue. Its speciality is language, rather than exclusively children's stories.
For pleasure reading, explain whether your child understands spoken English, is beginning to read it or already reads independently. Ask for a story suited to that experience, rather than choosing solely by the age on a listing.
If you want to visit, enquire directly about in-person service, location and opening hours before travelling. We include it here as a catalogue and advice resource, without assuming walk-in access to a physical shop.
Choosing Valencian, Spanish or English
A book to read together can be in whichever language you want to share. For independent reading, ask your child which language they prefer and look at a page together. For a gift, check with the family first.
Leolo has an international catalogue; English Wooks focuses on English. At the other shops, ask about the particular edition and stock. Carrying children's books does not mean having every title in every language, and this English guide does not imply English stock at each stop.
A short visit with children aged 6 to 9
- Before entering: everyone names something to find: an animal, a mystery, a laugh or a place.
- Inside: ask for help and open two or three possibilities. If possible, compare a spread from each.
- When choosing: let your child say what caught their eye. They do not need to justify the choice as if it were schoolwork.
- Afterwards: find a detail on your walk that could become a character. A parked bicycle or a balcony full of plants can start a sentence.
For another outing, see our Valencia guide for families with children aged 6 to 9 and choose an area that fits your journey. A bookshop and every major sight in the city do not need to fit into one day.
Questions before you go
Are all these shops children's specialists?
No. Leolo declares a children's and young adult focus; Estudio 64 specialises in illustration; El Cresol and Soriano are generalists with children's books; English Wooks focuses on English books and resources. Choose according to the help you need.
Can we attend storytelling without booking?
Check the announcement. Ages, spaces, cost, language and adult accompaniment vary by session. An activity programme does not guarantee an event on the day you visit.
What if a book is not in the shop?
Ask whether it can be ordered and when it would arrive. An online catalogue does not always guarantee physical stock for a visit that day.
Does this guide cover the whole province?
The selection focuses on Valencia city. When searching the province, check the municipality and journey so that an address in another town does not become a mistaken stop in the city.
